Tom Trago (NL, 1983) is one of the leading lights of the Dutch electronic music underground; initially blending elements of experimental hip-hop, jazz, Latin, Afrobeat, disco, boogie, and soul-flecked broken beat, before slowly developing a distinctively colorful, emotion-rich, synthesizer-fired style of music that also draws influence from house and techno. Trago is known for his willingness to collaborate with like-minded DJ’s, musicians, vocalists, producers and artists.

Tom Trago developed a sound compilation for Gabriel Lester’s installation. Constructed with sounds recorded inside the building of Het HEM, it consists of 12 musical pieces of 3 minutes each, separated by intervals of 1-minute silences. This sequence corresponds with the number of rounds and their duration in boxing matches. After each ‘round’ the sounds drop with higher synchronicity, evolving from a chaotic set of drums and beats into a tight rhythm.
