From Amsterdam and the surrounding area, the Hembrug site is easily reachable by bike.
From Amsterdam (Westport) you can take the GVB ferry F20 service between Amsterdam-Hempontplein and Zaandam.
From train station Zaandam it is a 10 minute bus ride (buses 65 & 67 in the direction of Assendelft which run every 30 minutes) to bus stop ‘P. Ghijssenlaan’. They run from monday till saturday.
When you exit the bus, you can already see the Hembrug site and it will take you a 5 minute walk to reach Het HEM.
You can also take an OV-fiets, which will take approximately 15 minutes.
Ring road A10, direction Zaanstad.
Take exit Oostzaan – Zaandam-Zuid – Het Twiske.
Turn right onto N516/Kolkweg towards Kolkweg-Noord – Zaandam-Zuid (S150).
After 3 kilometers (right after the Den Uyl-bridge) turn left at the traffic lights towards Hempont (S152).
Take a left at the roundabout onto the Hembrug site.
Then go to parking P6. The Hembrug site has a limited number of parking spots available.
Amsterdam Hempontplein – Het HEM
This GVB ferry service runs between Hempontplein (Amsterdam Westport) and Zaandam over the North Sea Canal.
The ferry service operates 24 hours a day: ferry 909 (during the day) and 913 (during the night).
This service is free for pedestrians, cyclists, scooters and other 'slow' traffic. Cars and motorbikes pay a small fee to take the ferry.
