The International Queer & Migrant Film Festival, known for their multi-disciplinary community approach to intersectional topics through film and art exhibitions, brings a one-off queer sci-fi film programming to Het HEM. Performer Simomo the Private Dancer invites audiences to enter his queer world – one of intimate human connection. The film program shows a scale of films, varying from AR to online safe spaces, and how video games can contribute to queer individuals’ envisioning of a better world.

Free Fun (Fehmi Öztürk, 2020, Turkey, 5’) Family fun takes on a new meaning when Kika and her dad end up in the same virtual reality game.

DKOB - AKA THESAUR (Wizar Mehmedi, 2021, North-Macedonia, 27’)

Tracing Utopia (Catarina de Sousa, Nick Tyson, 2021, Portugal, 27’) A group of teenagers discuss their ideas of a queer utopia. They build online safe spaces within a popular video game and create a manifesto for a more equal and just world where everyone can be their true self. In this moving short documentary, directors Catarina de Sousa and Nick Tyson prove there is much to learn from Generation Z. With humour and kindness, they illustrate the power of a community of love.

Brief Story from the Green Planet (Santiago Loza, 2019, Argentina, Germany, Brazil, Spain, 75’) Tania learns that her grandmother spent the last years of her life in the loving company of an alien. Together with two friends, the Trans woman travels through rural Argentina to bring the creature back to its place of origin.
