Shock Forest Group (2019) is an international research team consisting of architects, cartographers, linguists, coders, urban planners, sound makers, biologists, designers and engineers. It is an experiment in open research, where the research categories surface as the research develops. It is also an experiment in alternative education, a classroom without a teacher, where learning emerges as a product of polyphony.

Chapter 2WO unravels the world of Chilean artist and composer Nicolás Jaar and his Shock Forest Group, named after the Schokbos located nearby.
Nicolás Jaar will kick off the Chapter’s Public Programme of lectures, performances, explorations and readings. His presentation will provide insight into the origins and methodologies of the Shock Forest Group. Over the course of 12 weeks, the collective will intensively explore the former factory and its surroundings on the Hembrug site.
This lecture is free of charge, on presentation of a Chapter 2WO ticket, but has a limited number of places available. Please reserve a spot online by booking a free ticket.
