‘What is important now is to recover our senses’
Chapter 3HREE
What is important now is to recover our sensesSusan Sontag
For her magical, realistic photographs, she travels all over the world in search of the unique essence of phenomena from, for example, a flower garden or an underwater landscape. She tries to reflect this in often classical image compositions, which reveal the value of natural phenomena. In Chapter 3HREE Diederix shows a new triptych with shots of a dry landscape in Sicily.
As a photographer, Elspeth Diederix (1971, Kenya) devotes her practice to the infinite beauty of phenomena from nature and seemingly everyday objects. Her photographic representations invite the viewer to renounce a conditioned way of perceiving, and show how sublime, poetic, and surprising the world can be.
