Friday and Saturday 12–24h
Art is our first language. Throughout the year, Het HEM presents a range of temporary art programmes as well as more permanent art installations.
There is always music to listen to at Het HEM, with programmes focused on experimental ways to create, present and experience music in the building through listening sessions, live shows, and musical artis-in-residence initiatives.
Come by for a drink and a bite, wine and dine at one of our restaurants Zanini, Bois or get a sandwich at Bakery Solinger,. With good wether we suggest you settle down on our sunny terrace on the Costa del Zaano.
Het HEM loves books. During your visit, come lose yourself in the library's rich selection or discover new favourites in the SANZ Shop.
Situated in a former munitions factory, Het HEM is a new home for contemporary culture.
The building's industrial design and our experimental art programme bring ambience and meaning to every event.
With Amsterdam Art Week - Het HEM & Friends, we throw a party to celebrate the creativity of Amsterdam’s art projects spaces and their artists. The festive programme starts at 21h and ends at 02h. During this time you can listen to music and dance, drink a range of cocktails presented by the art spaces. And, see and enjoy all the fun, creative, engaging performances and artworks.
The Greyspace is the centre of this party – here you’ll find music by The Black Archives, Kunstverein and Galerie Fleur & Wouter. Jason Hendrik Hansma (Marwan), Jaehun ParkThe (Bradwolff Projects), Kathe Burkhart (Rozenstraat | a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose) provide and host a series of video projections and Lisette Ros live streams her dance performance from her living in Iceland (The Curators Room).
Shortly mentioned above, but the evening starts with The Black Archives’ Lawine mixtape. This mixtape, made by artist Brian Elstak and other creators from the ‘Zaan’ region, is a reinterpretation of audio material from colonial history.
Artist Johan Kleinjan from Gallery Fleur & Wouter presents a new DJ set under alias DJ Boonie. Artists Alec Mateo and Brechje Krah (representing P/////AKT), De Appel, Laurel Project Space and Welcome Stranger give performances that are almost dreamlike interruptions to the party.
Throughout the evening and night you can catch your breath in the Dark where ISOAmsterdam is hosting an installation by Artist Kévin Bray. Or drop by the light room and get your nails done at the nail salon by Lisa Spilliaert (Vlaams Cultuurhuis De Brakke Grond). The Hmm creates a place for you to go offline and what place to do so other than on the toilet where they welcome you with an installation? Outside in the smokers area you’ll enter Sexyland World’s own dimension.
