In his latest work O S C A R, an installation and performance at once, Arno Schuitemaker searches for a renewed sense of identity after life brought you to the epicentre of a break. In a special edition for Het HEM, he brings one of the three solos of this performance, a solo about tracing back that turns into travelling forth and how it felt to say: let me begin again.

Arno Schuitemaker creates works one has to experience. His interdisciplinary performances immerse the audience, each in their unique way. Rooted in the pages of his diary, they stretch and alter the way we perceive time and space and transform into embodied meditations on life, reflecting the depths of our existence.

On the 9th of June, Arno Schuitemaker will premiere his brand-new performance 30 appearances out of darkness at the Holland Festival.

Time Will Tell - Reza Mirabi

The title ‘Time Will Tell’ reminds us of the relationship between loss and time.

After losing his best friend during the pandemic, Reza Mirabi wrote a couple of short stories. Stories about, Nawal, a pigeon that moves backwards in time, Moj, a wave that by meeting the shore over and over again slowly carves a threshold into the now, and Zamin, soil, and ground, who just cannot understand the clock and so lives forever in cosmic time.

The stories are in the form of a conversation between these 3 figures: they converse about their different ways of being in and being with time and so they gave me time and space to cope. These stories became the script and score for this piece. Through movements and songs, poems and sounds, questions and dreams, they reimagine the art of conversation as a choreographic ritual of tending to time. A ritual of remembrance and of imagining what remains.”
