HEM is a house for contemporary culture in a former bullet factory. In the industrial building on the Hembrug site in Zaandam we present multidisciplinary art programs that shed light on the world around us, with a focus on the intersection of art and music. HEM is an interdisciplinary platform for experiment and exchange, in order to offer the public new ways of experiencing culture.
Through a large-scale renovation of the building in 2023 and 2024, we will shift our focus to public programs at off-site locations and to the recently launched digital platform The Couch. The business rental of the iconic building on the North Sea Canal will continue during this period. Het HEM continues to make 10,000 m2 of various creative spaces available as a special event location. In recent years we welcomed business parties such as WeTransfer, Adyen and SeederDeBoer, in addition to cultural partners such as the Sandberg Institute and AMFI.

What are you going to do?
As part of the Sales & Events team, consisting of a Business Event Manager and a Business Event Producer, you focus on acquiring orders. You initiate compelling sales activities and, together with the team, translate the customer's wishes into a successful event. You see opportunities everywhere, but you are also aware that our location requires customization. You easily make contact with potential new clients and are always looking for new opportunities to market our location in an appropriate way. Together with the team you shape the commercial policy of business rental.
The practical follow-up of assignments you have won is carried out by your colleagues, with whom you work closely and who in turn provide you with the necessary information to do your work optimally. Some knowledge of Smart Event Manager, the booking tool we work with, is a plus but not a requirement.
Who are you?
You are naturally hospitable and customer-oriented;
You have an HBO working and thinking level;
You have at least 3 years of work experience in an internationally oriented event organization;
You have a large network in the high-end events industry, but you always see new opportunities outside your own network;
You have initiative: you independently generate new business;
You are good at maintaining relationships and are not afraid to negotiate; you understand how to optimally translate the wishes of clients into a concrete offer;
You know how to find the balance between a satisfied client and a good financial result, without losing sight of Het HEM's core values;
You have strong communication skills and have an excellent command of the Dutch and English language;
You are proactive, stress-resistant and you contribute to a good atmosphere within the organization;
You have a heart for culture, architecture and heritage.
